When you aren't quite sure about what hair style you
should wear for prom, the Partial Updo is always a good start. In the
partial updo, your hair is half up, half down .

Check out the partial updo examples here. The style to the left features a partial updo that has a little bit of height in the crown area. This height is easily created by back-combing sections of hair and then smoothing over the top with your fingers.
This was an elegant upstyle for British actress Rosamund Pike at the UK Premiere of Atonement. Her golden mane was dressed in rolls and pinned randomly through the top. This brilliant updo is perfect for any special occasion and requires ample time to re-create.
The style also features loose waves on the ends. The loose waves can be created with either a curling iron or with hot rollers. Experiment with the style several weeks before your prom so that you know exactly how you want it to look.Add a headband, hairpin, even a hairpiece to this style for variations. Long, cascading curls are a great look for prom. The hair style shown at right features a different type of partial updo. The hair in the crown area is pulled back for a high pony tail. The rest of the hair is left long with loose waves.
To create the effect in the front where the hair is off the face, use a large round brush when blow drying and direct the hair in the direction you want it to go.
This is a great, simple partial updo style that will look awesome at any
Prom.
